Google Rating Calculator

Find out exactly how many new reviews you need to reach your target Google rating, and how long it will take at your current pace.

Add your current pace to see how long it will take.
You need about 0

more reviews to show 4.5 on Google.

Now 4.2Goal 4.5

Google shows ratings rounded to one decimal, so an average of 4.45 appears as 4.5. Results are estimates based on the numbers you enter.

How the calculator works

Your Google rating is the average of all your star ratings. The calculator takes your current rating and review count, adds new reviews at the average you choose, and finds the smallest number of new reviews that lifts your average to the target.

We default to a new-review average of 4.8 instead of 5.0 because, in real life, not every new customer gives five stars. Planning with a realistic number keeps your goal achievable.

Why Google rounds your rating

Google shows ratings with one decimal. An average of 4.45 appears as 4.5, while 4.44 appears as 4.4. The calculator aims for the lowest average that rounds up to your target, so the number you see is the minimum you need. Add a few extra reviews as a safety margin.

Why big profiles move slowly

The more reviews you already have, the more new reviews it takes to shift the average. A business with 20 reviews can move half a star in weeks. A business with 500 reviews may need hundreds of new ones for the same change.

That’s also why a target can be unreachable: if your new reviews average 4.6, your overall rating can get close to 4.6 but never reach 4.9. The fix is better experiences and more of your happiest customers leaving feedback, not shortcuts.

How to reach your goal honestly

  • Ask every customer, right after a good experience, with a direct review link.
  • Make it one tap. Long instructions lose people. A link or QR code works best.
  • Reply to every review. It shows future customers you care and encourages more feedback.
  • Fix what bad reviews mention. The fastest way to better ratings is fewer reasons for low ones.

Consumer research such as BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey shows that many people filter businesses by star rating, which is why even a small lift can bring more customers.

FAQ

Questions about Google ratings

How many 5-star reviews do I need to raise my rating?

It depends on your current rating and review count. Enter both in the calculator above and choose “5.0” as the new-review average to see the minimum.

Does Google remove old reviews from the average?

No. Every review that stays on your profile counts toward the average, no matter how old it is.

Can I buy reviews to reach my goal faster?

No. Buying reviews breaks Google’s policies and consumer protection laws, and can get reviews removed or your profile restricted.

Is this calculator free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up. Nothing you enter is saved.
